Coldplay Album

November 26th, 2011

One of the best selling albums of all time, in the UK, is known as Coldplay’s latest album that is entitled “Mylo Xyloto.” This album has actually already broke the 2010 record number of sales. 21.3 million copies have been sold this year of 2011. This year alone, digital albums represented 26.2% of all album sales. This went up 17.5% from 2010. That is a big difference if you really think about it. This album has broke the record for the highest number of actual copies to be sold within the release of the first week. As many as 80,000 copies of this album were actually sold in the first week alone.

It may have a lot to do with the Christmas season that is coming up. Regardless, it is very nice to have seen this album selling so much, in such a little bit of time. Music fans have so many different ways to buy music besides just the digital copy. Them having access to more than just one way, makes people want to go out and get it. People are downloading the music on Itunes, and from various other sites. All of these count towards the number of sales as well. This is very good way for people to really start buying music in more than just one way.

The World of Music Entertainment via the Telecom Industry

October 12th, 2011

The telecom industry is showing it’s resilience in meeting customer demands. Not only has the industry responded to customer demands for improved access to the music entertainment world via music downloads, ring tones, and music videos, but it is doing so in the most competitive manner: sim only. Via these plans, consumers are no longer bound by lengthy contracts but are free to pledge their allegiance to their entertainment needs. The telecom company that wins their service is the one which provides the best coverage area, service, and music entertainment value.

Customers want their basic cell phone needs to be satisfied as a given and their attention devoted to the entertainment value their phones provide. The “sim only” plans allow customers to try out a service provider and if the service is unacceptable they are free to switch to another plan by obtaining a new sim card. The telecom industry competes based on the best bundle of services the package together.

This is how cost conscious customers can select the package that meets their budget constraints with the extras that allow them to tap into the internet experience. The “sim only” plans allow for customers to try a cell phone provider with no contract. They can try a plan for a month and switch to another provider with no strings attached. Customers can select the amount of mobile internet that meets their needs. As of late, the competition to win customers has led the telecom industry to now offer free music downloads in some of their offerings. This allows the industry to leverage the popularity of the world of music entertainment to win over new demographics of customers.

The New 3D Trend

October 4th, 2011

It all started with the movie Avatar. It was offered in 3D, the three dimensional effect. Ever since that movie’s success, every other movie that is released is either shown in 3D or has the option of 3D, in addition to 2D. Moviegoers are willing to pay the extra money to watch their movie in 3D, so there is no reason to stop putting out 3D movies or, as in the case of The Lion King, reissuing movies in 3D. This 3D trend will probably provoke other movies to be re-released, as well.

The point is that 3D is overused. Action and thriller movies, such as the movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes or the new Alice in Wonderland, warrant the option of 3D. 3D is valid in these cases, because it enhances the experience and enjoyment of the movie. It fits into the overall feeling of the movie. Slower moving movies, such as the romantic comedy Bridesmaids and the cartoon movie The Smurfs, do not deserve to be in 3D. The three-dimensional effect will have very little to add to the overall feel of the movie or the enjoyment of it.

One problem with 3D is that, with the most current 3D effects and glasses, cases have cropped up all over the country about headaches, vertigo and nausea associated with seeing the 3D movies. People flock to theaters for a new movie only to find out that it is only offered in 3D. It is true that some movies do not make the 2D version available until it is released on DVD.

While many moviemakers jump on the 3D bandwagon, the public has grown tired of the unnecessary use of the effect that simply makes some movies more expensive and possibly uncomfortable to watch.

PotterMore: More of Potter Than Ever Before.

August 24th, 2011

J.K. Rowling decided to give back to her readers and fans by introducing the “Pottermore” website on Youtube.

She is set to release cauldrons full of new and unpublished material. Although she has made it clear that she has no intentions to write another novel, she already has over 18,000 words of fresh material about the characters, the places, and the things that made up this wonderful wizarding world. The Pottermore website is a way for her to bring the Harry Potter story lines into an interactive life for all Potter fans to take part of.

Although her publisher would be receiving some revenues from the e-books, the digital audio books will be sold exclusively from Pottermore.com, thus preventing some of the major websites like amazon.com and others like it from hiking up the price. What this means, is that the books will be affordable for all fans and doing it this way makes it the same for everyone.

This is also a way for fan creativity to blossom and grow and make way for the next generation of Potter fans. Starting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first novel of the series, the website allows users to interactively navigate their way through the story with brand new illustration. You start out by choosing your magical username, and then as you move through chapters of the book, you are sorted into houses. J.K. Rowling herself has created a slew of questions to help direct users into the correct house. After that, you can choose your wand, shop in Diagon Alley and live life on the campus of Hogwarts, just as Harry did. Points can be awarded to houses by mixing potions, winning games and casting spells. Users will also be able to add drawings, and personalize the experience to show off their skills and devotion. This is a way to get to experience the real nature of each house as seen first hand. In the novels, you see the houses through the eyes of the hero. So, being cast into Slytherin might not be such an terrible thing after all.

After selling four hundred and fifty million copies of the Harry Potter books around the world, Rowling still receives a huge a huge amount of fan mail with drawings, ideas, suggestions, and this for her is a way to really give back to the fans who have remained so devoted to the magical world of Harry Potter.

The website will launch for the first million users who register on July 31st- Harry’s birthday. These are the users that will help to shape the site before its complete launch to all users which is set to take place in October.
The site will then sell the long awaited e-book and digital audio book versions of the Harry potter series directly.
